HARTFORD — Get your taste buds ready because it’s National Taco Day!

In the last year, Americans ate over 4.5 billion tacos, according to National Taco Day’s website.

Soft tortilla or hard corn shell, meat or fish, hot or mild, there are countless combinations and places to get a good taco.

One of the first taco trucks is thought to have started in New York when in 1966 two New York housewives operated an early version of the taco truck. Although the truck did not have a full kitchen, it was available for catering.

Many restaurants are offering special deals today including:

Agave Grill (Hartford) — $2 tacos all day

Besito (West Hartford) — 2 for 1 on all street tacos

On The Boarder (Rocky Hill, Orange, West Springfield) — 50 cent mini tacos

Margaritas (East Hartford, Mystic) — Buy one get one free
