RIDGEFIELD — A home security provider has release its annual list of the safest cities in Connecticut and Ridgefield and Wilton rank the highest.
Safewise looked at the most recent FBI Crime Report statistics along with population data. The city has to have at least 5,000 people to be considered. Cities were evaluated on violent crimes, such as assaults, rapes, and murders, and property crimes, like arson, burglary, and car thefts. More on their methodology here.
The top ten safest towns, according to their calculations are:
- Ridgefield
- Wilton
- Weston
- Easton
- Redding
- Suffield
- East Hampton
- New Canaan
- Newtown
- Madison
The least safe cities, according to the report are Bridgeport, Waterbury, New Haven, and Hartford.
