Review says New Haven officers justified in shooting of Branford man
NEW HAVEN — The State’s Attorney in New Haven said two police officers were justified in the use of force against a suspect who was shot during an incident in September.
Officers Milton DeJesus and Jarrell Lowery fired on the man, Kenneth Palmieri of Branford, who was wanted in connection with the robbery of a convenience store in Guilford and an assault in New Haven.
State’s Attorney Patrick Griffin said Wednesday that his review found that the officers reasonably felt their lives were in danger and acted professionally during a very dangerous situation.
Griffin said officers were trying to arrest Palmieri when he accelerated his vehicle and rammed two police cruisers.
The suspect was treated for a non-life threatening injury.
