NEW HAVEN — A former Connecticut court officer has pleaded guilty to his role in a drug distribution ring that involved several people who worked in law enforcement.
Federal prosecutors say 34-year-old Jeffrey Gentile, of Ansonia, pleaded guilty Wednesday to using a telephone to facilitate the distribution of amphetamine.
Gentile faces up to four years in prison and a $250,000 fine at sentencing scheduled for a future date.
Gentile, who was a Connecticut Judicial Marshal at the time of the offense, was among 10 men initially arrested in the sting of the steroid ring, dubbed Operation Juice Box.
Prosecutors say Gentile obtained steroids from one of the other suspects and paid with Adderall, an amphetamine.
Last October, former Newtown emergency dispatcher Jason Chickos, 46, of Bridgeport, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute anabolic steroids.
In December, Newtown’s former police chief Steven Santucci, 39, of Waterbury, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute anabolic steroids and one count of conspiracy to launder money.
