Crews in New Haven respond to large fire believing people were trapped, everyone out safely

NEW HAVEN — A large fire burned at 1187 Chapel Street in New Haven Tuesday afternoon. The New Haven Fire Dept. tweeted about the blaze and started feeding out live video from the fire. The building is an old home converted into multiple apartments.

Multiple engines were called in to battle the fire that officials called a 2nd alarm blaze.

New Haven fire officials first tweeted that people were trapped inside, but later said that everyone made it out safely.

No word yet on what caused the fire. No one was injured.
