HARTFORD — A person has been arrested for allegedly photographing people, unknowingly, on UConn’s Law School campus in Hartford.
On October 12, UConn Police arrested Yiyan Wang, 30, and charged him with 15 counts of voyeurism, one count of disorderly conduct–which encompasses “peeping Tom” incidents in the state of Connecticut–and one count of attempt to commit voyeurism.
According to UConn spokeswoman Stephanie Reitz, Wang is not a UConn student, and she was not aware of any connection he has to the campus.
Wang was held on $150,000 bond and is next due in court November 4.
In Connecticut, the charge of voyeurism means a person knowingly photographed, filmed, videotaped, or otherwise recorded another person’s image without that person’s knowledge and consent. The person had to be motivated by malice or an attempt to satisfy or arouse himself or another. Voyeurism applies when the victim was not in plain view and had a reasonable expectation of privacy.
