BRANFORD – Police said a woman pushing a stroller was hit by a car in Branford Monday.

On Monday at about 3 p.m., first-responders helped a woman and her child who were hit by a car on East Main Street, at the I-95 underpass between the exit 55 off ramps.

Police said they found Rina Corsi, 42, and her 1-year-old, Jackson Chancio, lying in the road.

Police said witnesses told them that Corsi was pushing her son in a baby stroller, walking along with another child who was walking, when she pushed the stroller into the travel portion of the road to avoid debris. Police said Rina and Jackson were hit by a car driven by Lynn Delgiudice, 74,  of North Branford, who was traveling south. Police said the driver did remain at the scene.

Rina and Jackson were treated at the scene and taken to an area medical facility for serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The second child was uninjured.

Police said the accident remains under investigation and no arrests have been made.
