WATERBURY–A car crashed into a pole on Wednesday morning, causing a local business to lose power, but thankfully not resulting in any serious injuries.
A tractor trailer crashed into a pole in front of KarTele Cellular on Wolcott Street in Waterbury on Wednesday around 11:30 a.m., and about 400 people lost power for a time. The road was closed for a bit so that the truck could be removed.
The business is owned by state Sen. Robert Kane, who told FOX 61: “Great job by the Waterbury Fire Department, Waterbury Police Department and Eversource in keeping everyone safe and avoiding what truly could have been a dangerous catastrophe.”
According to police, the tractor trailer was pulling out of a plaza parking lot when it hit the utility pole, which then fell on the cab of the truck. The wires from the pole energized, igniting the truck.
