A special ceremony was held in Rocky Hill on Friday to honor the town’s dedicated Fire Department.

A portion of Route 160 will now be known as the Rocky Hill Fire Department Memorial Highway, in honor of the men and women who risk their lives every day.

State Rep. Antonio Guerrera, a Democrat who represents District 29, where Rocky Hill is, was at the ceremony and praised the firefighters for their hard work.

“At any given moment, they’re willing to risk their lives to save people. As people run out of a burning house, they run into it. And in my opinion folks, those are truly the heroes of America,” Gurrera said.

The ceremony also paid tribute to the late James Vicino, a community leader and business owner who was beloved. A sign at a different intersection in town was dedicated in his honor.
