MERIDEN — A serious crash left at least one person dead and caused a lot of traffic on Friday afternoon.
A car crash occurred around 4 p.m. on I-91 south in Meriden, near exit 16. The entire northbound side and the left lane of southbound side of I-91 were shut down for about four hours, and traffic had to be diverted on the grassy median to the other side. The road reopened around 8:30 p.m.
State police said there were life-threatening injuries reported from the crash, but didn’t elaborate on the number of injuries. Later, police reported that one person had died.
Two cars were involved.
