SEYMOUR — Three motorcyclists heading to the funeral of the woman killed in a crash last weekend were involved in an accident Saturday, leaving two of them injured.

State police said the accident happened on Route 8 near exit 20 in Seymour. Two motorcyclists suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Police said three motorcyclists were traveling south and one of the bikers tried to avoid a tire in the road. Thomas Ryan, 30, of Bristol hit the tire and drove into the median. The second motorcyclist, William Woodbury, 46, of Terryville, also struck the tire and was ejected from his bike which then hit the third biker, Richard Gary, 34, of Terryville, injuring his leg.

State police said it’s not clear where the tire came from.

No charges were filed.

Other riders said they were heading to the funeral of Aislinn Kern, 33, of Harwinton, who was killed Sunday when the motorcycle she was on was hit by an SUV in Litchfield. Kern died from her injuries and her husband Edmond, 40, who was driving the motorcycle suffered critical injuries. He was airlifted to the hospital by LifeStar and is still recovering. Five others were injured in that crash.

Kern’s funeral was held in Trumbull at noon on Saturday.
