MERIDEN — A robbery suspect is being sought by police after hitting a busy local bank on Friday.
Meriden Police responded to reports of a bank robbery after alarms were sounded at the TD Bank branch, located at 733 East Main Street, late that afternoon.
Employees told detectives on scene that a male suspect, likely between 50 and 60 years old and wearing a hat with sunglasses, had entered the bank a few minutes prior. He walked up to the front counter and demanded cash with a note on a deposit slip, to which a teller complied.
The unknown male assailant fled with an undisclosed amount of the bank’s money. It is unclear whether he left the scene on foot or in a vehicle. It is also undetermined which direction he fled in, or where his likely whereabouts may be at this point.
Police say the suspect implied that he was carrying either a concealed firearm or blade during the incident. Despite the suggestive actions, the suspect did not present a weapon at any time during the robbery.
