WEST HAVEN — Police have located the vehicle and operator who left the scene after a pedestrian was fatally injured after being struck early Sunday.
The West Haven Police Department sent officers to the area of Boston Post Road and Barbara Street at approximately 2 a.m. on reports of a motor vehicle collision.
Upon arrival, responders located a victim in the roadway with fatal injuries that suggested a sudden impact with an oncoming vehicle. Despite the victim’s condition, no vehicle could be found in the immediate area.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
Investigators determined the driver deliberately left the scene in order to evade taking responsibility for the crash.
