NEW LONDON – First-responders were called to the scene of a bad crash Monday night.

At around 8:45 p.m. the New London Fire Department said they went to a multi-vehicle crash with at least one person trapped on Route 32, near Benham Avenue. Before arriving, the Fire Department had gotten reports that two people were pinned in or by the car, though police couldn’t confirm that.

The road was closed in the southbound direction at Benham Avenue, about a 1/4 mile from the actual location of the head-on crash, so that the accident reconstruction team can investigate. It is expected to be closed for hours, and police advise you use Williams Street as a detour.

Lifestar was called and flew one person to the hospital with injuries. The extent of those injuries is not known.

The incident was near Connecticut College.
