HARTFORD–A student is facing criminal charges after police say she intentionally did damage to her school, and now kids will have to wait to get back to class.

On Monday, police responded to the High Road School on Locust Street in Hartford around 12:30 p.m. for a report of property damage.

School officials told officers that a female student was put in an isolation room for “acting out,” and while inside she used her shoe to hit the sprinkler head, which activated sprinklers across the school.

The water caused extensive damage, and will cost between $50,000 and $100,000 to repair.

School was closed on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday so that it could be dried out.

The juvenile was arrested, but police did not release details on what she was charged with or her name since she is a juvenile.
