BRIDGEPORT — A Connecticut doctor has agreed to pay $2 million to settle a lawsuit brought by a woman who said the physician misdiagnosed her severe headache.

The Connecticut Post reports that Dr. Donald McNicol, of the Norwalk Medical Group, agreed to the settlement with Margaret Gabriele on Wednesday just before the case went to trial.

Gabriele said in the suit that she went to see McNicol on Sept. 7, 2011, for “the worst headache” of her life. The lawsuit said McNicol did not perform an appropriate physical and neurological examination and failed to recognize Gabriele may have been suffering from a neurovascular event.

The suit said as a result, Gabriele suffered an aneurysm resulting in permanent injury and causing her to need assistance “in all aspects of daily living.”
