WEST HARTFORD — A traffic stop ended in the arrest of two people on gun and drug charges.
Police stopped a car with heavily tinted windows on Flatbush and Newfield Avenues In West Hartford on Tuesday. When they talked to the driver, police noticed a heavy odor of marijuana, and the driver admitted having a marijuana cigarette. When the car’s occupants got out of the vehicle, officers noticed gun on one of the passengers. The passenger was taken to the ground and the gun, a fully loaded Colt Python .357 revolver fell on the pavement.
Police seized nearly $2,936 in cash, 39 bags of crack, 4.8 grams of marijuana and the gun.
Police arrested Jimmy Gonzalez, 23, of Hartford was charged with possession with intent to distribute, possession of narcotics, carrying a gun without a permit, weapons
in a motor vehicle, conspiracy to possess narcotics, and conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute. Gonzalez was held on a $250,000 bond.
Barbara Rodriguez, 26. of West Hartford was charged with suspended license, tinted windows, possession with intent to distribute, possession of
narcotics, conspiracy to possess narcotics, and conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute. Rodriguez was released after posting a $15,000 bond.
A third occupant was not arrested.
