EAST HARTFORD--Rentschler Field is always a boisterous place to be when the Huskies are at home, but Friday night a large group of supporters was actually cheering for the other team, or at least one member of it.

Under the Friday night lights UConn faced off against the Temple Owls, a team looking to extend its three-game winning streak. The Huskies went into the game 3-6, while the Owls had the edge with a 6-3 record. Temple ended up with the win, 21-0.

But one of the Owls was Isaiah Wright, a former Wyvern. Yes, he was a wide receiver for Kingswood-Oxford, located in West Hartford, before starting at Temple in August.

Almost the entire current roster of Kingswood-Oxford's football team was in attendance in East Hartford Friday night to cheer on their former star--in fact, more than 200 members of the Wyvern Nation were out in full force!

"We're here to support our main man, Isaiah Wright, and the Temple Owls!" exclaimed Kingswood-Oxford's head coach, Jason Martinez, who added what a huge contribution the former star player has made to the program: "Thank you so much for what you've done for us Isaiah, we love you, we're here to support you."

And his family was just as excited.

"Just glad to know all his hard work and dedication is paying off," Wright's mom told FOX 61's Jimmy Altman at the tailgate before the big game.

Wright had a lot of options of where to go on after West Hartford, getting offers to play at Ohio State, Wisconsin and Boston College. But he chose to go to Philadelphia.

"I'm excited to go and embrace what the culture is at Temple, I feel that they're going to help develop me into a better person academically, as well as on the field, so I'm just excited to advance myself," Wright said during KO's signing day in February.

The 6-foot-2, 207-pound wide receiver has played all over the field, and is becoming a key player for the Owls. But Friday gave him a chance to prove himself in front of his loved ones.

According to Philly.com, Wright was excited for his so-called homecoming, saying the number of friends, family and former teammates coming out to support him was "going to be tremendous." He intends to stick around his hometown for a few days after the game.
