EAST HARTFORD–The home team just didn’t have enough to bring it home under the Friday night lights.
The UConn football team faced off against Temple, a team looking to keep up a winning streak.
The Temple Owls, which went into the game with a 6-3 record for the season and won the past three games, came out with a big lead in the beginning.
In the first quarter the team put up 21 points on the scoreboard, the only points that would be tallied the whole game. Jahad Thomas scored the the first two touchdowns, and Romond Delatch scored the third, all three on passes from Phillip Walker, who became Temple’s first quarterback to throw 2,000 yards in four seasons.
The Huskies are now 3-7 for the season.
The Huskies now get a week off before heading north to renew their rivalry with Boston College in Chestnut Hill. The Huskies close the season at home against Tulane on Nov. 26.
But local fans did have one thing to cheer about: former Kingswood-Oxford star Isaiah Wright, who is in his freshman year at Temple, was back home for his first college game in Connecticut, and he had about 200 supporters out to cheer him on!
