MERIDEN — A show of support for the Meriden’s Humane Society on Saturday after the city decided not to renew the organization’s lease.
They’re hoping to change the minds of city officials.
The Humane Society has not been given an eviction notice but was told to vacate this building by the end of February.
The organization has about 120 days to place more than 80 cats and more than a dozen dogs.
The new city manager says the Humane Society lease expired last year.
He says the tumultuous relationship between the Humane Society and animal control, which shares the building, was a reason for not renewing the lease.
