WOODRUFF, S.C.–A coroner says two bodies that were found on the property of a South Carolina man linked to five other deaths were a couple who had been buried there for about a year.
Coroner Rusty Clevenger said Wednesday that one of the victims was a 25-year-old woman who appears to have died from a gunshot wound to the head and the other was her husband, a 29-year-old man who had a gunshot wound to his torso.
The bodies were unearthed Sunday and Monday from a 96-acre site in rural Woodruff after the owner, Todd Kohlhepp, pointed authorities to the gravesites.
Last week, authorities searching the rural property found a woman alive and chained in a storage container. Investigators say they later found the woman’s boyfriend in a shallow grave. Kala Brown, 30, and Charlie Carver, 32, were reported missing in late August.
Authorities say the property owner, Kohlhepp, then confessed to a quadruple killing at a motorcycle shop in 2003, linking him to seven deaths in all.
