2 arrested after fight over President-elect Trump at Old Saybrook restaurant

OLD SAYBROOK–A fight turned physical Friday night, leading to some injuries and two arrests.

Around 8:40 p.m. Old Saybrook Police responded to multiple 911 reports of a physical altercation at the Cuckoo’s Nest, located at 1712 Boston Post Road in Old Saybrook. The fight was on the second floor of the restaurant.

Those who called 911 said that dishes were being thrown during the argument.

Police determined the two men fighting didn’t know each other, and started a verbal argument about President-elect Donald Trump that eventually turned physical.

Evan Brown, of Lyme, who turned 34 on Friday, was arrested and charged with assault in the third degree and breach of peace in the second degree. He was held on $2,500 bond.

Douglas Dahlberg, 58, of Clinton, was taken to Middlesex Medical Ceter’s Shoreline Emergency Department for injuries he sustained during the altercation, but will eventually be charged with breach of peace in the second degree and held on $1,000 bond.
