MERIDEN -- The Meriden Fire Department is investigating the cause of what they say is a "suspicious" house fire that left one dead Monday morning.
A 9-year-old boy and his mother were home when the fire broke out around 7:15 a.m., and they both suffered smoke inhalation. The young boy later died from his injuries, and his mother remains in critical condition.
Now, police are investigating how the fire at the Davis Street home started. They say based on the initial investigation by the fire marshal, it appears to be "suspicious in nature."
