VERNON - Crews are working to put out a brush fire at Valley Falls Park in Vernon.

Firefighters from Vernon, Manchester, North Coventry and Bolton were call in to help fight the fire.

Fire officials said the extremely dry conditions increased the danger of the fire spreading , but that winds helped keep the fire from quickly spreading.

They said the fire is on a cliff, making it difficult for crews to gain access.

"Accessibility was difficult,"  said Vernon Fire Chief Stephen Eppler. "The terrain was difficult."

He said that at no time were nearby residents in any danger.
