STRATFORD – A Stamford man was arrested in connection with a weekend shooting in Stratford.

Police said on Monday night they arrested Rodney Johnson, Jr., 20, in Stamford for a shooting which happened in Stratford on Friday. He was arrested at his father’s residence after Stratford Police tracked him to that address. The arrest was made with the assistance of Stamford Police.

Police said they also found a .38 caliber handgun and an electronic defense weapon. The handgun was reported stolen approximately two years ago in Trumbull, according to police.

Johnson was charged  with first-degree assault, unlawful discharge of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of ammunition, carrying a pistol without a permit and two counts of risk of injury to a minor.  He was held on a $500,000 bail.

Johnson was also charged with sixth-degree larceny by possession and illegal transfer of a firearm for having a stolen gun and issued $5,000 bail for those.

Hewill be in Bridgeport court on Tuesday, November 22 for all charges.
