ROCKY HILL — A Milford man said he was rewarded for doing the right thing after he found out he won a million dollar lottery prize.

Russell Davis said he was at a store when the clerk gave him too much change back when he was buying lottery tickets. So, he returned the extra money. According to the CT Lottery, Davis thought at the time “hopefully karma kicks in soon.”

It paid off.  Davis claimed the $1,000,000 Diamonds top prize as a one-time lump sum equivalent Wednesday. The lump sum was valued at $720,000. At first, he didn’t believe his luck and asked his brothers to double check.

Davis wants  to upgrade his seats for his favorite football team, pay bills and help out his family.

He bought the ticket at Sure Mart, on Bridgeport Avenue in Milford. The store will receive a $10,000 check from the CT Lottery.
