MERIDEN —  Police have identified the victim of a homicide who had been left dead in his apartment for several weeks.

Police said Thomas Wilderman, 73, who lived in the apartment has been positively identified as the victim.

Authorities said they are making progress in the case.

Police were called to an apartment building, at 657 East Main St. Meriden, November 2, for a report of dead body inside one of the apartment units. Neighbors said that there was a bad odor in the hallway, so they called police.

When officers arrived they found the elderly man’s body decomposing and said this death did not happen recently, and likely occurred weeks ago.

On Friday, Nov. 4, the victim’s car was found in Hartford.
