NEW HAVEN — A New Haven man has been sentenced to 67 years in prison in a 2013 fatal nightclub shooting that left a West Haven woman dead.

The New Haven Register reports Adrian Bennett was sentenced Tuesday in the death of 26-year-old Erika Robinson. He pleaded guilty during his trial last year to murder and five counts of assault.

Authorities said Bennett fired into a crowd at the Key Club Cabaret on Oct. 26, 2013, killing Robinson and injuring five people. Prosecutors said Bennett had intended to kill Jahad Brumsey, who was shot and wounded in the gunfire.

Bennett’s lawyer told the judge his client has had “emotional issues his entire life.” Bennett declined to speak at the sentencing hearing.
