For more than a week, tensions have been high across the country. Families and friends have turned against one another following the results of the presidential election. Many people are starting to worry – how are we all going to get along on Thanksgiving?
The Holderness Family, the folks behind the wildly popular viral video “Christmas Jammies,” has put what we’re all thinking into a song.
Showing one family member supporting Donald Trump in a “Make American Great Again” hat, another family member supports Hillary Clinton and wears an “I’m With Her” pin.
Set as a parody to “My House” by Flo Rida, the song “Welcome To My Couch” suggests bringing people to the couch to watch football on Thanksgiving and talk about things we all agree on, not politics.
Then, if you aren’t inspired enough to stop the fighting, the last 30 seconds of the video is an adorable montage of kids hugging each other, and even a few dogs and cats snuggling up, sure to warm even the coldest of hearts.
“Maybe we can all get along just for this one day,” the video ends. “Happy Thanksgiving! We love you.”
In just its first two hours posted on Facebook, the video has been viewed more than 350,000 times.
Dr. Laura Saunders, child psychologist with the Institute of Living, say down with FOX 61 and said it’s okay to talk politics with family and friends who disagree, as long as you stay focused on the issues, like taxes and healthcare, and not let yourself move into personal attacks.
