NEW HAVEN — An Uncasville man pleaded guilty to sex trafficking of a minor and heroin distribution offenses in connection with the May overdose death of a 17-year-old girl.

The U.S. Attorney’s office announced Thursday  Ramon Gomez, 40, of Uncasville, plead guilty to one count of sex trafficking of a minor, and one count of possession with intent to distribute heroin. The first charge carries a  mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years and the distribution charge carries a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years.

Gomez was arrested by Groton Town Police on May 30 after Olivia Roark, 17,  was found unresponsive of a suspected heroin overdose at a Groton hotel on May 29. She was taken to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Authorities allege Adele Bouthillier, 42,  gave the victim heroin that had been purchased from Gomez. Bouthiller was charged separately.

Gomez will be sentenced in Hartford on February 10, 2017.  He has been detained since his arrest.
