GREENWICH –- A New York man was pronounced dead after being struck by a tractor trailer Saturday evening in I-95 in Greenwich.
State Police say that Carlos Coyt-Orozco of Port Chester New York had pulled over to the right shoulder after his car ran out of gas. His passenger, David Espinoza also from Port Chester helped Coyt-Orozco push the car. Espinoza was stationed at the back of the car, while Coyt-Orozco was standing on the driver’s side door as he tried to push and steer the vehicle.
A tractor trailer driving by John Hoffman of Gloucester, New Jersey, hit a curvature in the road and was blinded by the sun glare. He drifted into the right shoulder, and struck Coyt-Orozco. Hoffman immediately pulled over and was cooperative when State Police arrived.
Coyt-Orozco was transported to the Westchester County Medical Center in Valhalla, New York, where he was pronounced dead.
The accident is currently under investigation.
