MIDDLETOWN–A young boy who has autism was found half-naked and nearly died on Saturday, and his parents apparently had no idea he’d left the house.

Around 8:40 a.m. on Saturday, Middletown police got three 911 calls that a child was in the middle of East Street, near the intersection of Ridgewood Road.

Police arrived and found an 8-year-old boy with no clothes on from the waste down. He had crossed the street by that point, and was just under a mile from his house.

The boy has autism, and besides not having on bottoms, he was also not wearing shoes and had muddy and grassy feet, though it does not sound like he was injured. It was just around 40 degrees outside at the time.

Police later learned that the boy left his house without his parents’ knowledge.

According to police, his mother said she had 18 shots of vodka the night before and didn’t remember the morning. The boy’s father also drank numerous vodka shots and couldn’t recall the morning.

The mother and father, Nicole and Matthew Glaser, of Middletown, were charged with risk of injury to a child and held on $50,000 bond.
