WATERTOWN – An Oakville man was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a child.
On Monday, Watertown Police arrested Paul MacLellan, 25, of 162 Williamson Circle in Oakville for the crime of first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.
Police began investigating after a child under the age of ten told them about a sexual assault. During their investigation, police interviewed MacLellan and said he confessed to the sexual assault.
The child was known to MacLellan before the assault occurred, according to police.
MacLellan was held on a $200,000 bail and was arraigned at the Waterbury Superior Court on Tuesday.
To protect the identity of the child no further details are being released. The arrest warrant affidavit is being sealed.
