BOSTON – Police have arrested a suspect that sent four officers to the hospital early Wednesday morning, according to Boston Police

Police received a call around 12:50 a.m. about a person with a gun and stopped a car on Stoughton Street that matched the vehicle description given parked with a man matching the description of the person with the gun inside.

When officers asked the driver to get out of the car, police said he tried to flee as he struggled with officers on either side of the car who were trying to take the keys out of the ignition. The suspect got the car in gear and slammed on the gas pedal, dragging the two officers and hitting two others who were coming to the aid of the original two officers.

The dragged officers were thrown from the car about 20 feet away, and the car drove off. Other responding officers tried to follow it but lost it.

All four officers were treated and released from the hospital with injuries that aren’t life-threatening.

Around 10:20 a.m. police arrested Vincent Weaks, 34, of Roxbury, Mass. , after finding him near his home. He is charged with four counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon/car.
