NEW HAVEN–A police officer has been taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital after being injured by a motorcyclist.
On Monday around 3:30 p.m. a New Haven police officer was on traffic duty at a construction site near the intersection of Kimberly Avenue and Ella Grasso Boulevard when he was hit by a person on a motorcycle.
The officer, identified as Detective Juan Ingles, 47, was conscious but taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Detective Ingles is a 14-year veteran of the department and works in the Family Services Unit and as a police bomb squad technician.
The driver of the motorcycle, who police are not yet identifying, stopped after the crash and was interviewed by police.
