MIDDLETOWN – State Police said their increased holiday patrols led to over 50 DUI arrests.
They said increased patrols began just after midnight on Wednesday until just before midnight on Sunday.
They said state police were on the lookout for drunk and aggressive drivers. DUI checkpoints and roving patrols were also established, according to police.
As of 9 a.m. Sunday, they said police had pulled over 1,000 drivers for speeding violations and about 450 drivers for not wearing seat belts.
Almost 3,000 drivers had also been pulled over for various moving violations such as unsafe lane changes, following too closely, using cellphones or failure to use their turn signal.
