ENFIELD — Authorities have ruled an Enfield woman’s death a homicide after her body was found last month behind the housing complex where she lived.
The body of 62-year-old Pamela Cote was found on Oct. 28 in a wooded area of Lafayette Park, just one day after police issued a Silver Alert for her when she wasn’t found at home during a well-being check.
Police Chief Carl Sferrazza says the medical examiner’s office determined she died from asphyxiation.
Sferrazza says the investigation remains ongoing and that he’s confident at least one arrest will be made.
“There is no reason for anyone in our community to be in fear that someone’s roaming around that is not the case in this instance,” he said.
Cote was found by cadaver K9s while police were searching for her.
The park is located behind Windsor Court, which is owned by the Enfield Housing Authority. It provides residences for elderly and disabled people.
Officials say there’s no reason for residents to be worried about their safety.
Deputy Chief Gary Collins says police aren’t releasing further details about the slaying.
