pet of the week – junior

HARTFORD - Junior is a 2-year-old, neutered male beagle/Jack Russell-type mix

He weighs 20 pounds and Protectors of Animals got him from a local animal control department.

His previous owner kept him in basement with no training, very little interaction, and virtually no exposure to the world, so he came to POA scared and under-socialized

He is quickly learning that people can be awesome! He is loving the attention and adjusting quickly. He is being socialized and getting out in the world and is doing well.

He can be fearful in new situations, but if he is with confident handlers and even confident dogs, he learns quickly to relax by taking their lead.

He’s very food motivated, wants to please, and so trains easily. He just needs a family that will be willing to continue his socialization and training

He’s a super good dog, but is overlooked because he is very “plain” looking.

He loves to play with his toys and adores playing other similar-sized dogs, after proper introductions. His ideal home will have another similar-sized dog as a canine buddy.

Junior has medium energy, loves to go for walks, goes out with volunteers on a run, romps with other dogs, but also is content to curl up with you to cuddle.

Junior's new home should probably not have any small children, but kids 12 years and older.
