New Britain skateboarder hit by a car dies hours after public helps identify him

NEW BRITAIN — New Britain police put out a plea for help Friday morning to identify a man hit by a car Thursday, and about an hour later, police said they were able to identify him.

Unfortunately, the victim, Hector Almodovar Jr., 20, of New Britain, later died from the injuries he sustained n the crash.

On Thursday December 1, just after 5 p.m., an unidentified man who was on a skateboard was hit by a car in the area of 20 Franklin Square, police said. He suffered serious life threatening injures and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The woman driving the car that hit him wasn’t seriously injured and is cooperating with police. There have been no charges filed.
