Middletown fire damages half of duplex

MIDDLETOWN — Around 1:23 a.m. Sunday morning, the Middletown Fire Department responded to a fire at 12 Glover Place.

Upon arrival, the fire was determined to be a two-alarm fire due to the heavy fire in the attic and because of the close proximity to other houses.

Fire Marshal Al Santostefano said they still do not have a cause,  but have pinpointed the origin to the front foyer of the building. Since there was no power and no one living there,  they have termed it suspicious.

The building is a duplex and one half of the building was heavily damaged,  and the fire didn’t reach most of the other half.

Some of  the siding on the house next door melted —  those residents were the ones who called in the alarm.

The fire moved into the attic and collapsed the roof.

No injuries were reported.

The Fire Marshal and the State Fire Marshal are investigating the cause.
