DANIELSON — Fire Crews responded to a fire at 14 Central Street in Danielson around 1:00 a.m. Sunday morning. The call was initially for smoke in the area.
Cheif Gerald Marcheterre with the Danielson Fire Department confirmed 5 departments responded to help fight the blaze.
The building was unoccupied but was getting ready to open as a Mexican Restaurant. The building is now at a total loss and will be torn down for public safety.
One firefighter was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, but there were no other injuries.
Quinebaug Valley Emergency Communications say Central Street is closed in Danielson.
State and local Fire Marshals are at the scene investigating the cause.
