SHELTON — Police made a swift arrest on Thursday after a person reported that packages had been stolen.

Shelton Police responded to Aspetuck Village on Thursday after a report that a woman was stealing packages left by a UPS driver. The suspect drove off, but the witness had a good description of the car and caught the license plate.

About 45 minutes later, police found the suspect car driving north on Route 8 north, near Exit 16, and police pulled the driver over.

Inside the car, police found 12 packages — 10 from five Shetlon addresses, and two from Waterbury addresses. Drug paraphernalia was also found in the car.

The driver, Andrea Guliuzza, 33, of Waterbury, was arrested and charged with five counts of larceny in the sixth degree and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was held on $5,000 bond and will be in court Friday.

Police recommend that you have a package delivered to the store itself or to your work address so that it is not just sitting on a porch.
