SHELTON — Police are investigating the death of a pedestrian last week.

On December 9 around 5:15 p.m., police say Ronald Richard, 48, of Shelton, was walking in the crosswalk near the entrance to the hiking trails on Meadow Street, near Shelton Avenue — also known as Route 108.  This is where the Shelton Lakes Recreation Path is located.

He was crossing the street when he was hit by a car. Police have identified the 45-year-old driver, but he has not be charged with anything.

Richard was taken to the hospital, but died from his injuries.

The Shelton Police Traffic Division Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash to determine what exactly occurred. It’s not yet known if charges will be filed.
