WEST HARTFORD – West Hartford Police arrested two people they said were pretending to be cable company reps but instead were stealing packages.

On Monday,  police said they  were called by an ‘alert resident’ who saw what he believed to be package thefts. The caller said two salespeople came to his house representing the cable company but they didn’t have the town issued solicitor’s badges, so he was suspicious. The town of West Hartford requires all door-to-door solicitors to have permits.

The caller saw them without packages and then carrying packages so he suspected they had just taken them. He called police, who found the pair with the  stolen items. They were arrested and later released on $2,500 bail with a community court date of Wednesday, December 21.

Justice Eugene Johnson, 24, and Deanna Naomi Gordon, 20, both of Waterbury, were charged with sixth-degree larceny, interfering with an officer, and simple trespass.
