New London police arrest 6 in ongoing narcotics crackdown

NEW LONDON — In the past week, the New London Police Vice and Intelligence Section has conducted several narcotics raids across the city.

Six people in all were arrested, though more arrests are possible.

Here’s the list of those arrested and their charges:

  • Jesus Fernandez, 24, of Providence, Rhode Island
    • Possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics with intent to sell
  • Michael Luciano, 31, of New London
    • Possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of narcotics with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school, and operation of a drug factory
  • Eddy Pena, 28, of Providence, Rhode Island
    • Possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of narcotics with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school
  • Louis Nieves-Rosado, 21, of New London
    • Sale of narcotics
  • John Smith, 31, of Westerly, Rhode Island
    • Possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, tampering with evidence and violation of a protective order
  • Rakim Isom Seales, 21, of New London
    • Carrying a pistol without a permit, theft of a firearm and violation of a protective order

During the arrests police seized about 165 grams of heroin, 35 grams of crack cocaine, a Ruger .22 caliber revolver stolen from Providence and $2,340.
