FAIRFIELD — Police say the driver in a Fairfield crash that killed him and his sister was charged with driving under the influence and drug possession about six hours before the accident.

The Connecticut Post reports that 33-year-old Brandon Dupee, of Bridgeport, was pulled over by Norwalk police on Tuesday evening and posted $500 bail about an hour and a half before the fatal crash.

Police say Dupee and his sister, 31-year-old Lindsay Dupee, of Stratford, were killed when their 2010 Honda Accord crashed into trees at a high-rate of speed shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday on Sunfield Lane, just off I-95. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Brandon Dupee is believed to have been the driver.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.

In 2011, Brandon Dupee and a neighbor shared a $1 million prize in a lottery drawing.
