MASHANTUCKET -- This is the story of four young lads who put a band together.
Since the early '60s, the Beatles have been a cornerstone of music history. Remember when the Beatles invaded? Mark Gould, with Sound Waves Magazine, an entertainment magazine that covers southeastern Connecticut and parts of Rhode Island, says he does. And he's awed by Foxwoods Resort Casino's tribute to the band.
“This is so well done, and it's so well realistic. They played with Vox amplifiers at the time -- the Paul McCartney Hoffner Bass, which, you know, puts a lump in anybody’s throat, he still plays one today.”
"The Magical History Tour: A Beatles Memorabilia Exhibition" features everything from the Fab Four's roots through their storied career. But there's one thing that there isn't much of: live music from the band's performances.
According to Tony Kishman, who played Paul McCartney on Broadway in the show "Beatlemania," says the band didn't really perform that often because "the girls would scream, and they couldn’t hear themselves ."
The exhibit covers the British rockstars' storied history from their start to their finish in 1970, and includes the music, clothes and style as they evolved.
The exhibition runs through February 5, and is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. It is held in the Great Cedar Exhibition Hall, and tickets cost $15.95 for adults 19 to 59; $13.95 for adults over 60 and veterans; and $10.95 for kids aged 6 to 18.
