WETHERSFIELD — It’s hard to be sick any time of year, but especially during the holidays.

One woman who has cancer has started a mission to keep her busy: find a way to meet Mariah Carey.

To that end, Larissa Podermanski, 30, who has stage 4 breast cancer, teamed up with her chemotherapy infusion nurses at Starling Physicians in Wethersfield to create a music video. The large group crooned the tune of “All I Want for Christmas,” and of course the end of that sentence for Larissa is “to meet Mariah Carey.”

Here are some of the creative lyrics they changed to be about Larissa: “She doesn’t want a lot for Christmas, there is just one thing she needs. She doesn’t care about the presents underneath the Christmas tree. She doesn’t need to hang the stocking there upon near a fireplace. Santa Claus won’t make her happy with a toy on Christmas Day. She just wants to meet you so. More than you could ever know. Make her wish come true. All she wants for Christmas is you.”

She’s been doing a good job so far getting attention — the video has been posted on Ellen Nation, allowing people to vote to help grant Larissa her wish. You can vote here.

On a GoFundMe page set up by Larissa, which has nearly reached its $20,000 goal over the last eight months, she writes that she was settling into a new house with her fiance and planning her wedding when she got diagnosed with cancer. Unfortunately, even with a double mastectomy, the cancer had already spread to her liver.

Larissa went to a concert earlier this month, but that won’t satiate her Christmas wish!
