BOSTON — Former New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez was in court on Tuesday for a variety of pretrial reasons.

Hernandez is charged in the 2012 fatal shootings of two men he encountered at a Boston nightclub. Safiro Furtado and Daniel de Abreu were killed in the drive-by shooting in Boston.

On Tuesday, Raychides Sanches, who survived the deadly shooting, identified Hernandez as the triggerman.

Prosecutors on Tuesday asked Sanches to describe the chaotic scene during a hearing in Suffolk Superior Court.

When asked who the shooter was, Sanches said “Hernandez” and nodded in his direction.

Prosecutors say Hernandez gunned down the men after one of them bumped into him at a nightclub. He has pleaded not guilty.

Hernandez already is serving a life sentence for the 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd.

Another reason for the hearing was Hernandez’s lawyers had asked the judge to bar prosecutors from using the contents of his cellphone.

His trial in the double slaying is scheduled for February, and the judge denied a motion to delay it.
