WEST HARTFORD -- A favorite annual community event is back and better than ever for 2016.

The Chabad of Greater Hartford will host its annual Fire on ICE Hanukkah celebration in Blue Back Square in West Hartford on Sunday, December 25 at 4 p.m. It will take place in front of Barnes & Noble.

“We invite the entire community to participate in this uplifting event,” said Rabbi Shaya Gopin.

Hundreds are expected to watch as the supersized ice menorah is lit at the free event.

“Chanukah is a holiday of light and freedom, where few overcame the many and light triumphed over darkness," Gopin added.

The event will feature a chocolate "gelt" drop with some help from the West Hartford Fire Department's fire truck (gelt is the word for money, and are usually presented at Hanukkah as chocolate coins), a fire show, 3D dreidel printing, glow-in-the-dark face painting, a Lego dreidel, live music and more.
